LAHORE (Dunya News) – Food items worth Rs 410 billion were imported with six percent rise in the first nine months of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2015-16, Dunya News reported Thursday.
Statistics issued by the department concerned state that the import recorded six percent increase in the first nine months. Import of lentils and pulses increased 61 percent taking the amount spent to Rs 46 billion.
Tea worth Rs 42 billion was bought with 58 percent rise while Rs 129 billion were spent on purchase of cooking oil.
Experts have said that lower local production has prompted associations to import more items in the ongoing fiscal year.
